OUR BEGINNING

Recognizing that the combined power of a group was stronger than a solitary voice, Retail Merchants Association of Richmond was formed in 1906 when nine downtown Richmond retailers joined forces to solve a common challenge: dust from the dirt roads that would enter their shops. Since then the issues facing retailers may have changed but RMA continues to fight on behalf of local businesses.

RMA has teamed up with several local area businesses who serve as Certified Solution Providers. Well-vetted, these companies align with RMA’s mission to help local retailers thrive and provide retailers with solutions and resources to solve their needs. Our current certified providers are solving for challenges around hiring and staffing as well as offering payment processing with a unique focus on customer service.
Retail Merchants launched a new collaborative platform that allows its members to easily connect with one another. This digital community provides retailers with the opportunity to access information and find industry-specific resources. The member-only community consists of groups where members can interact, share ideas, gain knowledge, answer questions and stay connected all from the comfort of their business.
RMA is focused on bringing RMA members vital information on what is happening in the retail industry – whether it be legislative issues that impact businesses or industry trends, RMA helps members stay informed and ahead of the curve.
RMA’s Educational Series is an in-depth learning series built for retailers. Each session concentrates on a specific topic that benefits their business. Topics range from growth and development to training opportunities for employees. Attendees will leave with direct takeaways and implementations for their business.
