Amidst much fanfare and anticipation, Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods opened the doors on their newest endeavor, Ukrop’s Market Hall, this week – giving Richmonders something to truly celebrate in 2020.
Located at 7250 Patterson Avenue, Ukrop’s Market Hall is designed to be a gathering place for Richmond families seeking the “best-of” Ukrop’s products, and its legendary customer service, in a friendly, neighborhood atmosphere. Dine-in or carry-out favorites such as fried chicken, potato wedges, Slidinis, custom salads and pizzas, or shop a full selection of chilled prepared entrees, sides, deli salads, and fresh baked goods, including custom cakes.
“Having heard from thousands of food fans since our retail stores closed in 2010, it seems fitting that we are beginning this new chapter during Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods’ 10th anniversary year. We are excited about opening what we think will be a warm and inviting place where families may gather to enjoy great-tasting Ukrop’s foods,” said Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods President Scott Aronson.
The 6,000 square feet space, formerly home to several churches, has been renovated to feature five distinct market areas: Market Table, a taste of Ukrop’s past, present, and future featuring favorites like fried chicken and breakfast pizza, hot sides, and daily specials; Dot’s Pastry Shop, so named for the beloved Richmond bakery procured by Ukrop’s in 1976 where Ukrop’s will continue not only the tradition of great tasting cakes, pies, cookies, and tarts, but also treating the kids to a Rainbow cookie– just as generations of kids received during Ukrop’s retail days; Carryout Catering, where customers can pickup food for the holidays and every day; the Icebox, featuring all of Ukrop’s individual and family-sized entrees, delis salads, and sides; and the Balcony, an elevated dining space that may be rented in the future for private events. Additionally, the space offers socially distant seating for approximately 25 guests indoors, and 24 outside.
In a nod to the past, when Ukrop’s was one of the first in the nation to launch a shopper’s loyalty program, the market will also feature a loyalty card so that customers are the first to know about specials, savings, and new product innovations. What’s more, in a nod to 2020, customers can also pick up a Rainbow Cookie face mask, as well as other Ukrop’s swag including shirts and cookie tins.
Concurrent with the opening of the market, Ukrop’s has launched a new and improved website allowing customers to order their favorite products online with greater ease. Ukrop’s will also continue to serve the growing number of retail outlets which offer their products.
“Whether it’s for busy families or empty nesters—convenience and the demand for fresh foods is a top concern today. Interest in having an array of ready-to-enjoy foods available in many retail outlets, especially during this pandemic, has become even greater,” said Chairman and CEO, Bobby Ukrop.
