The first Better Business Bureau was established in 1912 to advance responsible, honest, and ethical business practices and to promote consumer confidence through self-regulation of business. The Richmond-based outpost of the Better Business Bureau was founded in 1954 and today boasts thousands of accredited business members. The local office serves Richmond, the tri-cities, Charlottesville, and Fredericksburg, as well as 42 surrounding counties from Fauquier to Mecklenburg, and Northumberland to Amherst and provides the core services of business profiles, dispute resolution, truth in advertising, consumer and business education, and charity review.

The new training center is located at 1000 Eastshore Drive, Suite 100 in Glen Allen and will enable the BBB to better serve the community with an easily accessible location for the region, as well as larger rooms and cutting edge digital technology.
