In the beginning, Brooke Fulwider, owner of Mechanicsville’s For Posh Sake, just wanted to create special gifts for her husband Billy, a real estate agent, to give his clients as closing gifts.
From those early days, her personalized gifting grew, first through friends and family, and later as an online-only business running out of her garage until finally opening a storefront in Hanover Greens. Today, as the specialty boutique celebrates its second anniversary, it encompasses two storefronts.
Driven by the desire to provide exceptional customer service and provide customers with gifts that they can’t find elsewhere, For Posh Sake, which was named Hanover’s Best Boutique by Mechanicsville Local and took home dual honors in the Richmond Times-Dispatch’s annual “The Best” in 2018 when it was named The Best Women’s Clothing Store and The Best Kid’s Clothing Store by readers, initially focused on personalized gifting, monogramming, drinkware, gift baskets, and baby gifts.
The boutique later expanded to add men’s clothing – featuring brands fellow Hanover residents couldn’t find nearby including Southern Tide, Costa, and Heybo.
From there it seemed only natural to add women’s clothing as well. Today the store features a carefully curated, yet constantly changing, on-trend women’s collection made up of pieces from brands including Free People, Kendra Scott, Articles of Society, Z Supply, Simply Southern, and Lauren James.
With an in-house monogram station, gifting still remains a focus of For Posh Sake. The boutique excels in offering unique items perfect for those hard to shop for people. Brands including Scout, Ella B. Candles, Tervis, Corkcicle, Barr-Co., and Rifle Paper Co. are but a sampling of the brands shoppers will find.
