Keep Virginia Beautiful, Inc. is accepting grant applications from groups all across the Commonwealth who want to make a difference in their community. Applications for the 30 in 30 Green Grant initiative are being accepted through April 30th, with the thirty awards being announced one each day in the month of June.

Since 2011, Keep Virginia Beautiful has provided over $203,000 to fund 260 programs and projects throughout the state, through the generosity of Altria and Keep America Beautiful.

You can submit a proposal for a program or project in four categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, Community Beautification, or Cigarette Litter Prevention. “We’ve funded an array of groups, from other environmental nonprofits to elementary schools” said Mike Baum, Executive Director. “Last year we funded a project to help revitalize the McDonough Community Garden in Southside Richmond. That project was special because it not only created a beautiful green space, but allowed for an area recognized as a USDA food desert to have more access to fresh produce. There is a lot of room for creativity and innovation through this program!”

Keep Virginia Beautiful’s website has more to offer in addition to the online grant application. You can learn more about Adopt-a-Highway, a free program that helps you pick up litter on the roads near your business or home. You can also learn how to get involved in Team Up 2 Clean Up, a two day event that is mobilizing partners and volunteers to help beautification efforts across Hampton Roads

The mission at Keep Virginia Beautiful is to engage and unite Virginians to improve our natural and scenic environment.
