We are excited to have local Chef and business owner, Joe Sparatta, as a panelist for our upcoming Farm to Table Forum.

A native of New Jersey, Joe worked for prestigious Chefs Craig Shelton of The Ryland Inn & Scott Anderson of Elements prior to moving to Richmond. He and his wife Emilia moved south and in late 2012 opened Heritage. Most recently, Sparatta teamed up Lee Gregory of The Roosevelt and local Richmond farmer Matt Gottwald to open the seasonally driven, upscale casual eatery, Southbound.

What’s your favorite part about the local farm to table movement?

Having personal relationships with the farmers. Knowing about their families and their lives makes you appreciate their work that much more.

Do you have a favorite local dish, or local produce, or local recipe?

We’re big fans of Victory and Tomten Farm, as far as local produce is concerned. They both do amazing work.

What’s your favorite part of being a local business owner?

Being able to give back to the community.

Come hear Joe as a panelist at our Farm to Table Forum on March 10.
