We are excited to have local business owner, Donnie Caffery, as a panelist for our upcoming Farm to Table Forum.
In 1985, Donnie opened Good Foods Grocery with the sole focus to serve and support the RVA community. As an advocate for local produce and products, Donnie became a founding member of Real Local RVA, a grassroots group dedicated to growing the local food scene.
What’s your favorite part about the local farm to table movement?
My favorite part is that it networks the growers with local people and businesses, which in turn, increases the dollars being spent locally.
Do you have a favorite local dish, or local produce, or local recipe?
No local dish, but it is always fun to see the abundance of local produce come onto market in late summer – tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, and sweet potatoes come to mind.
What’s your favorite part of being a local business owner?
So many people are focused on themselves and their social media, or being in the flow of the 24-7 news world when none of that really satisfies our souls. Family and real local relationships are so very satisfying.
