The Richmond Flying Squirrels are pleased to announce that Vice President & COO Todd “Parney” Parnell has been named the 2011 Minor League Executive of the Year by Baseball America.  Parney will be featured in the upcoming edition of BA in recognition of the award.

Parney was chosen by BA following the Flying Squirrels’ second season in Richmond, VA.  During the 2011 season, the Squirrels saw their average attendance rise, placing second in the Eastern League in both overall and average attendance.  During their inaugural season in 2010, the Squirrels led the EL in both attendance categories.

“I am extremely flattered to be recognized by Baseball America,” said Parnell.  “This award is definitely representative of an organization-wide effort, and reflects how the diligence of many fine people has brought baseball back to Richmond in a very positive way.”  “I am grateful to accept this honor on behalf of our entire organization, and also the outstanding baseball community in Richmond.”

With Parney’s guidance, the Flying Squirrels have quickly established themselves as community leaders, incorporating programs throughout area schools, while also leading and participating in numerous philanthropic aims.
