What is your mobile angle?  Whether you distribute smart phones, design mobile coupons, have special apps, or provide a complete mobile marketing service, we want to hear from you!  Please send Pat Vitsky (patricia@retailmerchants.com) the following:

Company Name, Contact Name, Phone & Email – plus a brief paragraph or two on what your product or service does.  Pretend you are talking to someone who knows NOTHING about mobile marketing.  Pat will follow up with you if more information is needed. Thomas Jefferson is the Focus
of the Upcoming Banner Lecture

Thursday, January 13, noon

Susan Kern will discuss her book The Jeffersons at Shadwell. In this lecture, Kern will merge archaeology, material culture, and social history to reveal the fascinating story of Shadwell, the birthplace of Thomas Jefferson and home to his parents, Jane and Peter Jefferson, their eight children, and more than sixty slaves. Javier Lopez Added to Squirrels’ Hot Stove Banquet
Former Wahoo was Instrumental to Giants’ World Series Championship

San Francisco Giants left-hander and Virginia native Javier Lopez has been added to the lineup for the Richmond Flying Squirrels Inaugural Hot Stove Banquet at the Richmond Marriott Downtown.

Lopez, who pitched collegiately at UVA, was a key component in the Giants remarkable run to the World Series title, making nine postseason appearances in relief, allowing just one run and one hit, while fanning six over 5 2/3 innings.  Lopez joins legendary pitcher Tommy John, former Richmond Virginian Eddie Kasko, Flying Squirrels’ Pitching Coach Ross Grimsley and Minor League Baseball President Pat O’Conner as celebrity guests for the inaugural banquet..

Tickets for the Flying Squirrels Inaugural Hot Stove Banquet are currently available and can be purchased by calling the Flying Squirrels at (804) 359-FUNN (3866) or by visiting the Flying Squirrels’ Ticket Office at The Diamond.  Tickets are available to Flying Squirrels’ season ticket and mini-plan holders for $75.00 and to non-package holders for $100.00.  Fans that wish to purchase a ticket package and include the Hot Stove Banquet will receive the discounted rate.  Sponsorship opportunities for the Hot Stove Banquet, including table sponsorship are also available.

RideFinders Emergency Ride Home Program

RideFinders has revised its ERH Program but is still receiving old ERH Registration Forms; Below are the new forms for your convenience that must be completed by all commuters. This new program rolled out January 1, 2011 and all participants that were registered with us previously should have received a flyer regarding the enrollment start date and new program highlights at their home address.

Please make sure that all your program participants are registered for the New ERH Program and if it is possible post the new guidelines, application and waiver on your company intranet so that every employee that participates in your Commuter Choice Transportation Program is aware and has access to the new registration forms.

Governor McDonnell and Country Singer Garth Brooks Appear in Virginia Tourism Public Service Announcement

Airing Begins January 10

The Virginia Tourism Corporation and Virginia Film Office released a new public service announcement featuring Virginia Governor Robert F. McDonnell and country music legend Garth Brooks.  Garth Brooks visited Virginia because of his role as Executive Producer for the Sony Pictures Television movie Unanswered Prayers, airing on the Lifetime Network. The film was shot entirely is based on the popular Garth Brooks song of the same name. The PSA, filmed on the steps of the Virginia State Capitol, will run 935 times in January and February on PBS in four Virginia markets generating a potential 65 million impressions.

Virginia Tourism President and CEO Alisa Bailey commented, "It was an honor to have the Governor and Garth Brooks working together to help us promote Virginia as a travel and film destination.”  Virginia Film Office Director Rita McClenny stated, "Garth and his production team were excellent partners and produced a high quality inspirational film set in Virginia.”
