Based on the success of roundable after roundtable . . . the Retail Authority Mentoring Series continues! The Retail Authority normally meets 8:00–10:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the Retail Merchants Association office. Please join us.
- Each roundtable is limited to the first 15 registered attendees.
- Attendees will be invited to submit that one ‘burning’ business question or a statement of what they expect to get out of the session.
- Each session will address a majority of the questions.
- There will be time for additional questions, answers and general conversation.
- Only one representative from a company at each session.
- Because of the popularity of this program, if you have been once, please refrain from signing up again in 2012.

Panel Moderator Ken Gassman, Luxury Goods Analyst, has been a retail analyst for over 35 years. In the 1980s, he was Senior Retailing Analyst at Wheat First Securities, and in the 1990s, he was Sr. VP and Retail Analyst at Davenport & Company. He worked with national U.S. retailers including Wal-Mart, Lowe’s Companies, Circuit City, and others. In addition, he has worked closely with companies in the jewelry industry. Ken focuses his research and analysis exclusively on the global jewelry and diamond industry, particularly at the consumer level. Ken has been quoted in major publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, the New York Times and the Washington Post.
Panelist Alan Gayle is Senior Investment Strategist, Director and Portfolio Manager at RidgeWorth Investments, He leads RidgeWorth’s Asset Allocation Committee, convenes the senior management Investment Policy Group, and is responsible for developing and communicating the investment outlook, strategy, and asset allocation. He is portfolio manager for RidgeWorth’s Allocation Strategies which received a Lipper Award. Alan has been with the RidgeWorth and/or its parent organization for over 30 years. He has testified before Congress and is regularly quoted in the financial press, radio and TV as well as a frequent guest on CNBC and Bloomberg.

Panelist Ann Battle Macheras joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond as VP of the Regional division of the Research Dept. in February 2009. Ann oversees a staff engaged in research and analysis of regional economic conditions, and advises internal Bank leadership in this area as well. She supports regional outreach efforts to share economic analyses and insights across the Fifth Federal Reserve District, which includes NC, SC, VA, WVA, MD, and DC. Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Bank, Ann served as Sr. Economist for the VA Economic Development Partnership, managing the economic research group in analyzing regional economic trends. She also served as Sr. Economist for Chmura Economics & Analytics consulting firm.
Panelist R. Scott Shaheen has been the VP/Regional Manager at Long and Foster since 2004 and served as past President of the Richmond Association of Realtors as well as affiliation with the Virginia Association of Realtors. His extensive knowledge of the real estate industry and hands-on experience at every level has earned him several industry awards and a prominent place in his industry.
