Richmond Raiders’ Torez Jones was named the PIFL Vidswap.com Special Player of the Week for making the biggest play in a competitive fourth quarter.
Here’s the scene: The Raiders are down by three points in the final 45 seconds. Jones fielded a short field goal attempt on a couple bounces, then spun, made a cut, and raced 40 yards for the game winning touchdown!
THE CROWD GOES WILD!
The honor is Jones’ first and the first for any Raider this season.
Jones’ touchdown completed the Raiders’ 20-0 fourth quarter run to erase a 17 point deficit and earn their first victory of the season in a rematch of last year’s PIFL Championship Game.
Catch all of the Raiders’ action at their games with season tickets. The Raiders will return to action next Saturday, April 19th against the Harrisburg Stampede. Fans can buy two tickets and get one free!
Tickets start as low as $7. Go to www.RichmondRaidersProFootball.com, or call 1.855.GO.RAIDERS.
Little Sisters of the Poor’s sixth annual RVA French Food Festival will be on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014. In 2009, this festival was created to help the Little Sisters of the Poor raise funds to support the Virginia Elderly Poor. For over 138 years, Little Sisters of the Poor have provided the elderly poor with compassion and a place to call home.
This event is the chance to experience all things French! The festival features world-renowned Chef Paul Ebling, and Chef Sean Murphy of the Savory Grain, along with dietary manager Chef Alain, and pastry chefs Sister Teresa and Chef Phillip. You can explore French cuisine, hear live jazz music, shop the Parisian marketplace full of vendors, and enjoy games and entertainment for the kids.
Those of all ages are invited to come enjoy the festival from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm at 1503 Michael’s Road in Richmond. Free parking is available in the Forrest Office Park lots next door. All proceeds from this event will benefit the elderly poor who are lovingly cared for by the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Trenton puts up 52 points against error-prone Raiders.
This opener was almost as sad as last years. In 2013, the Raiders had a 42 point loss to the eventual champion Alabama Hammers. Although they were hoping for better to start to the 2014 campaign, they received similar results as they faced Trenton Freedom (52-17).
Richmond got a spark from special teams in the fourth quarter. Kevin Allen returned a blocked extra point for two, and Gerron “Scooby” Bryant had two kickoff returns totaling 79 yards. Both returned led to Raider touchdowns, but they came too late to make a difference.
The Raiders‘ home opener will be April 12 in a Championship Game rematch against the Alabama Hammers. Single game and group event tickets are now on sale at the Raiders’ website, www.RichmondRaidersProFootball.com, and the Raiders’ hotline at 804.780.0430. Tickets start at just $7, and lower level tickets are on a Buy 2, Get 1 Free special for Opening Night.
