News from Raiders Training Camp

“2012 Richmond Raiders Team Combines Youth and Talent”
Commenting on the Richmond Raiders indoor pro football preseason training camp that opened on February 20, Head Coach James Fuller said he is pleased with the progress that’s been made so far. With a dozen players returning, the team is far ahead of where it was last year at this point.
Coach Fuller went on to say, “The team is younger than last year’s, but overall I see more talent. On the one hand, getting the younger players up to speed is a challenge, but I don’t think that will be an issue. The guys all seem to have high football IQs. On the other, enthusiasm and energy go hand in hand with youth. The energy at our practices is palpable, and that’s absolutely encouraging.” Fuller added that he believes the Raiders’ new league is considerably stronger than last year’s.
The 2012 season kicks off against the Columbus Lions on March 10 at the Richmond Coliseum and runs through June 16. The Raiders will join a few past season rivals and some new additions in the newly-formed Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). The competition will include the Albany (GA) Panthers, the Alabama Hammers, the Louisiana Swashbucklers, the Columbus (GA) Lions, and the Knoxville Nighthawks.
