RMA Sky Box Rental - Only 1 Date LeftMonday, August 27, 7:00 pm, Braves vs. Charlotte Knights The Retail Merchants Association’s Sky Box #2 is available to member and non-member companies for Richmond Braves home games on a first-come-first-serve basis during the 2007 season. The Sky Box can comfortably accommodate up to 21 guests (8 seats on the patio, 13 inside the Sky Box). Ten (10) tickets and two (2) under-stadium parking passes are included with the box rental. The rental fee is $400 for members and $500 for non-members. To reserve August 27th, contact George Peyton at (804) 662-5505. Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday—October 5-8, 2007The first weekend of October (Oct. 5 – 8, 2007) again offers all retailers the opportunity to participate in a Sales Tax Holiday. For retailers selling Energy Star qualified products, the following items will be tax exempt by law during this 4 day period: “Energy Star qualified products with a sales price of $2,500 or less per product purchased for noncommercial home or personal use. For the purposes of this exemption, an Energy Star qualifiedproduct is any dishwasher, clothes washer, air conditioner, ceiling fan, compactfluorescent light bulb, dehumidifier, programmable thermostat, or refrigerator, the energy efficiency of which has been designated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Department of Energy as meeting or exceeding each such agency's requirements such requirements under the Energy Star program.” All retailers may participate in this Sales Tax Holiday event if they wish to absorb the 5% tax for their customers. Participating retailers will be permitted to advertise during the 14 pays prior to the event and during the event that they will pay the tax for their customers during the 4 day holiday. Remember, a retailer is prohibited by law from absorbing the tax for their customer or advertising an absorption of the tax at any time other than during a specific Sales Tax Holiday period. Official guidelines from the Department of Taxation will be posted on Sept. 15th. In addition, the museum is also celebrating record levels of attendance, admission revenue, membership sales and donations to its scholarship fund. Karen Coltrane has worked in development, public relations and leadership roles in non-profit organizations for the past 17 years. She joined the staff of CMoR in 2004 and was the museum's vice president, responsible for fundraising, public relations and mission-based programs. T-D Executive Editor Receives National AwardGlenn Proctor, executive editor of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, received the National Association of Black Journalists Legacy Award at the groups annual convention held in Las Vegas earlier this month. The award honors “a pioneer black (journalist) of extraordinary accomplishment who has broken barriers and blazed trails, ”according to NABJ. Proctor, who has 37 years of experience in journalism, joined the T-D in October 2005. “Fun with ChiChi and Other Tails” at White Canvas GalleryWhimsical mixed media work of fantasy people and animals.
