Schwarzschild’s Reorganization Sale Continues

But everything must be sold before Schiffman’s Jewelers of Greensboro, NC assumes full ownership of Schwarzschild in early 2007. James River Bus Lines Holiday Lights Tour – Dec. 15

James River Bus Lines’ annual Holiday Lights Tour will be loading from the James River Passenger Center ( 900 N. Allen Avenue, Richmond) on Friday, 15 December 2006, at 5:30pm. The guided tour will depart promptly at 6pm, and will return approximately 10:30pm. The tour will include homes decorated with 10,000 lights or more, the James Center downtown and admission to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s GardenFest of Lights. Your lively guide will offer holiday trivia and puzzlers throughout the tour, as well as commentary of each of the homes on our tour. Cookies and soda served on board.

New Vice-President of Marketing at RMCVB

Richmond Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau (RMCVB) is pleased to announce that Jennifer Carnam has been named Vice President of Marketing. Jennifer is the current Vice President – Project Development Director of Southeastern Institute of Research in Richmond, and will assume her new position at RMCVB December 18, 2006.

RMCVB is also pleased to announce the promotion of publications manager Katherine O’Donnell to the newly created position of Director of Marketing. Katherine contributes a monthly column to Retail Partners on the conventions and tourism.

Carey VIP Chauffeured Services Selected for Norfolk Airport

Carey VIP Chauffeured Services took over the Shared Ride ground transportation service at Norfolk International Airport Nov. 1. The company purchased new vehicles including 2007 Crown Victoria sedans with extended legroom in the rear seat for passenger comfort, as well as 2007 Ford Vans with individual seating and center aisles for easier passenger boarding. All of the vehicles are equipped with video surveillance and satellite tracking systems for safety, security and superior customer service.

The Carey VIP Airport Connection service offers door-to-door service between the Norfolk Airport and any location. Customers can make advance reservations or walk up purchases 24/7. Also corporate accounts, travel agent programs and voucher systems will be established.

Central Virginia Foodbank Receives National Recognition For Kids Cafe Program

Award Presented At America's Second Harvest Network National Conference

The Central Virginia Foodbank, Inc. is the 2006 recipient of the America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network Kids Cafe Program of the Year award.

The Kids Cafe Program provides free meals and snacks to low-income children through a variety of existing community programs for children such as Boys and Girls Clubs, churches or public schools. Each year, the America's Second Harvest Network honors a Member with The Kids Cafe Program of the Year award for developing an outstanding Kids Cafe Program at the local level.

The number one goal of its Kids Cafe Program is the procurement, preparation, and delivery of quality, healthy, hot meals to the children served at Kids Cafe sites.

In the past three years the Kids Cafe Program of the Central Virginia Foodbank, Inc. has undergone dramatic increases in service. This year, an average of 1,900 meals were served at 40 sites each day during the school year, and a daily total of 3,473 meals were served at 38 sites during the summer. The Central Virginia Foodbank received an award from the USDA recognizing the dramatic 64 percent increase in summer service.

In addition, the food bank also developed a Kids Café Program site sponsorship program that has successfully attracted local funding, enabling the program to expand while maintaining its level of service.

Influenza Pandemic Media Training Offered

Continuity First, Inc. and Bill Oglesby Media Consulting will offer a one-day training session that will give you the skills you need to deal with the press in case of a crisis situation such as a possible avian flu pandemic. The techniques are applicable to any crisis situation.

The seminar will be offered in Richmond on Thurs. Dec. 7 at Bank of Virginia, 11730 Hull Street Road in Midlothian. RMA members are being offered a special rate of $695. The session is limited to six participants to allow individual on-camera training. Find out more and register here >>
